Is Your Family Really Benefiting When You Work at Home
Youve beaten the obstacles and found a way to work at home, whether by finding a job or starting a home business. But is your work getting in the way of time with your family? It may be time to make sure you are finding balance between working at home and your family.
Lets take a look at some easy things you can do to ensure that you are spending time with your family.
1. Make time for play. Family activities are a great way to relax away from work. It can be as simple as taking a walk or going to the park, or it could be a full day excursion to a museum, amusement part or beach. You dont have to leave the house, of course. You could play games, make cookies or do other fun activities around the house. The point is to simply have fun as a family and have time to talk to each other.

You could play games, make cookies or do other fun activities around the house. The point is to simply have fun as a family and have time to talk to each other.
One way to start is to plan a family night. Tell everyone they have to be home on a particular evening each week and do things as a family. Even if you just rent a movie to watch together, its something youre doing together.
If youre married, make sure you plan a regular date night with your spouse. Frequency may depend on how old your children are and how often you can get babysitting, but it is important for your marriage to have time as a couple.
You dont have to spend a lot of money to have fun with your family. Just make time for fun.
2. Be there for your childrens activities. If your children are involved in sports, acting, singing or other activities, make sure you are there for all the games, performances or other important events. It will help your children to know that they are very important to you.
3. Set rules and enforce them. If your children understand when they can interrupt your work you will be able to get more done in less time, giving you more time for your family.
Of course, you need to be consistent. If kids get away with breaking the rules some of the time, they will test the rules often. Consistency will save you time in the long run, even if you arent sure you want to spare the time at a particular moment.
4. Pay attention to what kind of attention each child needs. Every child is different. Some demand attention while others are so quiet its easy to forget that they need you too. Make sure you spend time with each child as an individual.
5. When the kids come home from school, take some time to talk about their day. They will appreciate your interest. You should also make sure they understand their homework and start it at whatever time they do best at finishing it. Some do best starting homework immediately on getting home, while others do better if they can play for a while first. Be aware of your childs needs.
6. If your work is something the children can help with, let them be involved. If not, you can still at least talk to them about what you do. This sets a good example for your children by helping them to know what working is really about.
Its easy to get buried in the needs of your work when you work at home. A little bit of planning can go a long way toward making working at home a wonderful experience for all. Your family is why you decided to work at home, so dont let your time with them get put aside.

Diets That Work Top 3 Trendy Diets That Actually Work

As winter draws nearer, people will be looking to keep off that holiday season weight. A lot of trendy diets are circulating these days, always claiming to be the best diet for you. But which diets really are the best? Which ones actually work and which diets are just fads? Here is a list of the top three most simple and and most effective diets to keep off the winter weight this year.
Portion Control
According to Good 4 Utah, one of the most timeless diets is still one of the best choices for slimming down. Controlling the amount of what you eat is an extremely effective way to ensure you don’t take in more calories than your body needs — in fact, taking in fewer calories than your body is used to getting is a sure-fire way to stay trim, because your body will have to use stored energy to get what it needs rather than storing the extra fat you put in. For this reason, Weight Watchers is one of the best trendy diets currently available. This diet has you assigning points to each item of food and doing math every time to eat to ensure you don’t go over a set number. The Telegraph agrees that portion control and WeightWatchers is one of the best diets for long term weight loss, but considers the calorie counting time consuming.
Low Carb
Everyone has heard of this one, and there’s a reason why. Low carb and high protein diets like Atkins and the Zone have been proven time and time again to be one of the best ways to lose weight and stay healthy. This diet is one of the best because it lowers the percentage of calories consumed from carbohydrates and increases protein and fat consumption. According to Philly, LeBron James used a low carb diet very effectively during his off-season, which is more proof that this is one of the best trendy diets out there.
Alkaline Diet
This is the diet that might come as a surprise. One of the best trendy diets out there suggests cutting back on acid-producing foods like meat, wheat, caffeine and alcohol. It also encourages more fruits and vegetables, which is one of the best things a diet can do for your body. According to The Telegraph, this diet is endorsed by Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston as one of the best dietary options. It’s not just trendy, it’s effective.
It may also come as a surprise to learn that an organic food diet did not make the list of best diets. While organic food is great for the environment, many studies show that organically grown food does not offer substantial health improvements.
What do you think? Which trendy diet sounds best for you?

Weight Loss Going High Tech But Does It Work
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – For some people, losing weight may take more than just diet or exercise.
Now, weight loss is going high-tech with new gadgets promising the end of diets, exercise regimens and even surgery.
But, how well do some of these things actually work?
For example, Dan Correa’s scale talks to him.
The scale tells you how much food to eat over how much time and if you eat too fast, it gives you a warning.
The theory is that eating more slowly leads to weight loss.
“It’s about feeling full and by eating slower, you will feel full sooner,” nutritionist Deborah Cardile said.
The Mandometer is not the only high-tech device designed to help you shed the pounds.
The Bite Counter literally counts each time you take a bite during a meal.
A computer allows the user to set the count and read the results on your wrist.
Psychologist Eric Muth developed the device after his own struggle with weight gain.
If you eat more than a pre-programmed number of bites, an alarm goes off.
“We showed that if we tracked bites, you could indeed slow a person’s eating and that did reduce intake,” Muth said.
That’s also the theory behind the HapiFork.
It vibrates and flashes a red light if you take bites less than 10 seconds apart.
A mobile app even helps to keep track.
Most diners who tried it were surprised at what it revealed.
Studies show eating slower, smaller portions and taking fewer bites can help you lose weight.
Experts say each has its limitations.
“It definitely can be of some value, but it still does not help you decide what food choices to make or when to eat. Those two things are extremely important,” nutritionist Nicolette Pace said.
Correa says it worked for him and he’s lost nearly 30 pounds in just three months.
“It changes your behavior. It changes your relationship with food. It works,” Correa said.
The Mandometer was originally developed for people with eating disorders, but is now being offered for regular weight loss.
Because of that, you still need a referral from a Mandometer clinic to be eligible for the scale.
The Bite Counter is available online for anyone, but it’s very expensive at almost $800.
That gets you the device, all the adaptors and the software.
The HapiFork seems to be the cheapest and easiest option. It’s available on Amazon for $99.
